Our client is a large, long established and highly successful German family owned industrial company with several thousand employees and headquarters in Lower Saxony. As a global manufacturer of highly complex machinery and equipment, the company operates an advanced development and production network. For one of its major plants with more than 1,000 employees, we are seeking an experienced and hands on Head of Maintenance (m/f/d).

In this key role, you ensure the technical availability of all production equipment, lead a skilled maintenance team, and drive the continuous development of preventive and predictive maintenance structures. You oversee planned, preventive and corrective maintenance, analyze failures and root causes, manage spare parts and external service providers, and ensure compliance with safety, documentation and operator responsibilities. You work with maintenance KPIs such as MTTR, MTBF, availability and downtime, and contribute to investment planning and technical risk assessment.

You bring a technical degree or qualification as a technician or master craftsman in electrical engineering, mechatronics, mechanical engineering or automation. You have several years of experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment, including proven leadership responsibility. You are familiar with TPM, SMED, maintenance strategies and ideally predictive maintenance, and you have strong knowledge in automation, control systems, mechanics, pneumatics and hydraulics.
As a leader, you combine strong technical problem solving skills with calmness and clarity in critical breakdown situations. You work in a structured, organized manner, lead your team reliably in day to day operations and during disruptions, and communicate clearly and solution oriented. You take responsibility, enforce standards and safety requirements, and are willing to step in operationally when needed. You can represent technical priorities against production pressure, manage external partners confidently, and make data driven decisions.

We are looking for a candidate who builds sustainable structures rather than only firefighting, who can analyze root causes, manage availability and maintenance strategy, and collaborate with production on equal footing. You should be resilient, hands on, decisive, KPI driven and accepted on the shopfloor. Entrepreneurial thinking beyond departmental boundaries is essential.
